ATTORNEY
– Criminal and penal lawyer – –
I have been a criminal lawyer for 40 years now.
I chose this orientation in order to represent the people who are alone in fighting against the almighty state. I have always taken my clients’ defense very seriously and listened to their sides of the charges.
A client who claims his innocence must absolutely be in good contact with his lawyer so that the latter can properly defend his defense before the courts. The relationship with my client is very important and must take into account a good communication so that this one feels in confidence and that he can thus cross the long road of the legal process which is often very difficult.
The practice has led me to work in several areas such as:
- ASSAULT AND THREATS
- MISCHIEF
- CONJUGAL VIOLENCE
- IMPAIRED DRIVING (DUI)
- THEFT AND FRAUD
- BREAKING AND ENTERING
- ARSON
- DRUG-RELATED CRIMES WHETHER POSSESSION, PRODUCTION OR TRAFFICKING
- MURDER OR ATTEMPTED MURDER
- CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE
- SEXUAL OFFENSES, ACTS AGAINST GOOD PRINCIPLES, MISCONDUCT
Since the mid-1980s, I have had the opportunity to represent teachers falsely accused of sexual assault against students across the province. I thus became an activist for the investigations in this matter to be more rigorous and I contributed to the evolution of these in order to avoid serious injustices. In addition, I have given numerous conferences to education unions in order to sensitize teachers to their rights in the event of an allegation of sexual abuse in the school environment. Likewise, I gave a training to lawyers as part of the 2019 annual conference of the Association québécoise des avocats et avocates de la Défense regarding the cross-examination of complainants in sexual matters

I am also specialized in cannabis laws and regulations, whether related to criminal law or otherwise and under the old or new regime. I have always been an advocate for the legalization of all drugs, especially cannabis, since drug use should be a public health issue rather than a criminal issue. In fact, in 1993, I ran in the provincial election for the Green Party to advocate for the legalization of cannabis.
