There are many people, even represented, who feel like they do not know what is going on in their case and do not understand the legal process. However, it is important for a lawyer to take the time to look at the file with his client and explain to him his options. To simplify legal terms and help defendants better understand how our justice system works, I make videos and write articles. Also, I took the time to explain on TVA Nouvelles and on the radio with Paul Arcand the impact of the new cannabis legislation when it came into force in 2018.

Finally, I always take the time to listen to what my client wants. There are some who want to settle their files in which case I find the best possible settlement. There are others who want to go to trial and when there is a point of law to assert, I do not hesitate to vigorously defend my clients in court. For example: When the evidence was obtained following violations of their fundamental rights I asked for the exclusion of the evidence and they were acquitted. In other cases, the delays to undergo their trials were excessive, so I asked for a stay of proceedings in accordance with the teachings of the Jordan decision. Finally, it also happens that a criminal offense is accompanied by a minimum sentence, but when the circumstances arise I ask that it be declared inoperative with regards to my client.
